The low-down: Champagne needs no introduction! This number is a blend of 52% pinot noir, 32% chardonnay and 16% pinot meunier.
Lanson is one of the larger houses in Champagne that have been making wine since the 1760s. Nicholas Feuillate is another large house we have opened recently (their Brut Grande Reserve Magnum NV.)
We picked this up retailing in France for 35 Euros.
The take: Very, very bubbly. Appealing salmon hue, transparent. A fishy and savoury nose with strawberries and cream and grapefruit wafting through. On the attack sherbert/kali in both flavour and texture. Hints of sour citrus and strawberries. With time hazelnut, but the bite remains. Finish sweet and a little abrupt.
In closing: Solid, sherbety, strawberry and salmony.
Rating: 6.5 out of 10.
