The low-down: Happy new year! Champagne needs no introduction. We love Nicholas Feuillatte for its accessible, quality, affordable champagne blends. The Centre Vinicole de la Champagne represents 82 co-operatives across Champagne with 5,000 growers and 2,250 ha under vine (7% of total under vine across Champagne). This group was established in 1972 and in 1986 they acquired the Feuillatte brand from Nicholas Feuillatte.
This Brut Grande Reserve is aged for three years in the cellar. We picked this up retailing in France for E55 - good value for a quality producer.
Earlier this month we tasted the Feuillatte Brut Reserve as part of the Dubai Wine Club sparkling event.
Enough of this, let's go celebrate!
The take: On appearance, a very clear, pale, yellow. Good effervescence but it dissipates quickly. On the nose, fresh, floral, buttery. A relatively closed nose. On the attack, hazelnut, candied lemon, sherbet, good acidity.
In closing: A buttery delight, gently sweet, good acidity.
Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
